St Georges recognises the need to encourage sustainable development and works closely with clients to ensure environmental management, health and safety management and social and ethical conduct on our schemes is of the highest standard. We will seek to encourage sustainable long-term value creation and are happy to work with our customers and to be accountable for our actions in this respect.
We operates a strict Health & Safety policy, which is underpinned by rigorous practices and procedures. Any activities that will assist with addressing climate change will be embraced where feasible and we welcome both customer and client input in this respect.
To this end we have a medium term plan within our company to improve energy efficiency, to encourage effective waste management both internally and on our schemes, to use environmentally friendly materials and to encourage our sub contractors to do the same. Some recent initiatives have included a move to 100% use of re-cycled paper, a real reduction in energy use, a medium term commitment to moving the office to a paperless operation, and a “switch it off” policy. In addition there is a company wide commitment to charitable giving that is fully supported by staff.
We are happy to work closely with developers to advise on cost effective use of sustainable materials. Also to assist in utilising our wide-ranging experience to specify the most cost-effective heating and lighting, thermal insulation, recycling policies and renewable energy sources.
We believe that these actions not only provide for a contribution to addressing future climate change, but will increasingly add value to the assets that we manage over time.
